KUWAIT: A welfare association of Kerala expats in Kuwait chartered a flight of 167 passengers today associating with Jazeera Airways. The flight departed from Cochin International Airport on Thursday 3.30am – local time and arrived in Kuwait at 6.00am. Many people from the association were present in the airport to receive passengers and witness the direct flight from India after months of waiting.
In a letter to Ministry of Civil Aviation – India, Director General of DGCA informed, the Council of Ministers approved direct flights from India to Kuwait with a weekly quota of 5,528 passengers and it is allocated national carriers of Kuwait & India as 2,689 and 2839 respectively.
Jazeera Airways started to accept booking of flight tickets from different Indian cities scheduled from next Wednesday for a price ranging from 170,000 to 220,000 Indian Rupees. Stranded Indian expats are waiting for more schedules from other airlines for a reduced ticket fares.
